Privacy Policy
Effective: March 2026
Overview
dicto is a simple utility. It does not collect, transmit, store, or share any personal information about you or anyone you communicate with.
Data we do not collect
- No account or sign-in is required.
- No analytics or usage data is collected.
- No advertising identifiers are used.
- No crash reports are sent to us.
- No speech audio or transcribed text leaves your device.
- Your language preference is stored only on your device using standard iOS system storage (UserDefaults).
Microphone and speech recognition
dicto requests access to your microphone and to Apple's speech recognition service solely to display spoken words as text on screen. We never receive, record, or store your audio. For languages that support on-device recognition, transcription happens entirely on your device. For languages that do not yet support on-device recognition, iOS sends the audio to Apple to transcribe it, where it is handled under Apple's privacy policy. Keyboard input never uses speech recognition at all.
Third-party services
dicto uses Apple's SFSpeechRecognizer and AVFoundation frameworks, which are governed by Apple's own privacy policy. We use no other third-party SDKs, analytics services, or advertising networks.
Children
dicto does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, we will update the effective date above. Because we collect no data, meaningful changes are unlikely.
